So, please introduce yourself.

My name is Robyn Lyons and I’m based in Redcar, but cover the whole of the North East.

Tell us a little about your business Robyn.

I own Prim & Proper Decorations and we offer decoration hire for all kinds of occasions; specialising in wedding décor. We officially opened in October 2016 and worked from home, we now have an office in Redcar town centre. We supply and set up everything from chair covers and centrepieces to flower walls and huge LED lights.

What made you set up?
I set up Prim & Proper when planning my own wedding. I realised that it was hard to find well priced suppliers who covered every aspect of wedding décor. I wanted every person with every kind of budget to be able to have the wedding of their dreams.
How would you best describe your style?

Our style obviously varies to whatever the bride/groom like! We have everything from rustic, romantic, classic, elegant, to full on glitz! My personal favourite this year is rose gold sequins, the more the better for me!!

What advice would you give to couples when sourcing suppliers?

Don’t worry about what any one else likes! Often people bring their family and friends to meetings and not everyone likes the same theme or colours. This is YOUR day!

We are so excited to have you at our upcoming Wedding Open Day on Sunday 24th June. Can you give us a hint at what you have planned?
We’re going to have a rustic stall for you as we feel this fits the gorgeous venue perfectly! Wooden centrepieces, foliage, hessian – gorgeous! We’ll also be giving away discounts to every bride/groom who comes, with one lucky couple receiving a huge 50% off!

Prim & Proper, along with other wonderful suppliers, will be joining us tomorrow 1-4pm. Make sure you join us!

See you tomorrow

Getting to know “Pinecone Productions”

When I opened my inbox to a message from Alex, introducing he’s fabulous new company Pinecone Productions, along with the offer of a beautiful promotional video for the venue, I could’t believe it… then I took a look at his work and was blown away!

After years of freelancing for other videographers, Alex has taken the leap into going it alone and I have no doubt he will be very successful.

He will join us this Sunday, share his work, capture the day AND offer the most amazing gift to those couples attending… FREE ENGAGEMENT FILM ANYONE?

pinecone

Over to you Alex!

Hi I’m Alex Whitley, based in Guisborough and owner of Pinecone Productions.

The Business:

Pinecone Productions was established in January this year, after years of working freelance for others. We offer Bespoke Cinematic Wedding films and Engagement Films
Videographer.

I have always had a passion for both Filmmaking and photography, I spent 10 years working as a freelance camera operative and photographer as well as working as a sound designer for the independent film and music industry. It has always been my dream to set up my own production company and offer my services for weddings.

I would describe my style as creative, cinematic and discreet. I tailor every wedding to the individual clients, story telling is a huge part of what I do and I find it is the most important aspect of any film. I enjoy learning about my couples and what ideas they have for their big day. Aside from the posed shots with the couple, the rest of my work is based around blending into the background and capturing your day as naturally as possible.

The biggest advice I would offer to my clients is not be overwhelmed about companies focusing on the technical capabilities. I hear too often videographers talk about 4K, Big Camera rigs and expensive Drones. All that is unimportant without the element of creativity and story telling, look for someone who can bring personality to you big day.

I can’t wait to join The Arches Country House for their Open Day and Brochure Launch, I plan on having our wedding promo films on a screen for clients to view, as well as flyers, business cards for you to grab from our creatively decorated and branded display. Most exciting of all will have an EXCLUSIVE offer on the day – book on the day and receive a free Engagement Film absolutely free!

Getting to know, Ruffled Flowers

This “Getting to know” blog isn’t an attempt to confuse you, yes it is ME asking ME questions…

So, incase you haven’t realised yet, I am also the creator of Ruffled Flowers! This meant a fantastic opportunity to create something fabulous with flowers at The Arches Open Day (along with hosting the day, helping pour the drinks and chatting all things weddings at The Arches Country House. How exciting!)

We’ve got a busy week coming up but I cannot wait to get going and make this open day a really special event for us.

A bit about me!

Prior to my life as a florist, I worked within the events sector, working for incredible companies including Handpicked Hotels and Loughborough University… needless to say, the expertise I have taken from these roles serves me well now I am involved in the future of our families venue!

What to know about Ruffled Flowers.

Ruffled Flowers is a wedding and special events florist, I also deliver creative workshops for flower lovers.

Flowers and weddings are my absolute passion. Working with a couple, turning their ideas into beautiful creations and generally getting to share my love of what I do and being involved in such an incredible occasion is a joy and a privilege.

Why I set up Ruffled Flowers…

Oh there’s so many reasons, but honestly, the point I am at now is one I could never have imagined being at.

Originally it was to work flexibly after my daughter was born (oh how I laugh at that thought now!).

Now my ambition and drive with Ruffled Flowers is pure passion and excitement for
flowers. The more it grows and word spreads, the more I want to create and grow bigger.

How would you best describe your style?

Wild & Bohemian. Natural & Garden Picked. Romantic & Elegant.

Everything I make I stand back and think, does it make me say wow? If it doesn’t, I’ll take it apart and start again…

Advice for couples sourcing their wedding florist.

Go with your heart. Of course speak to them and make sure you’re on the same page, but honestly, flowers are visual – exhaust their FB and Insta, see that they have created the type of design you are looking for or have the identifiable skill to create it.

I always say to people, don’t follow trends follow your heart, so what if something is deemed so 2 years ago but its all you’ve dreamt of as long as you can remember – it’s your wedding, have you want! HOWEVER, and it’s a big however, different florists offer different styles, lots will tell you then can offer all styles and designs but really I think you should use a florists based on THEIR true identity.

If someone comes to me dreaming of gypsophila bridesmaid clouds and a small tightly compact bridal bouquet, I know thats not my style or what I love to create, but I would never try to talk that person round – I would advise them of skilled florists who I know will create this style beautifully.

What to expect at The Arches Open Day.

A mega celebration of British Flowers, our open day happens to fall on the closing day of British flower week, an incredible week of showcasing the very best we grow here on home turf.

My plan is to dress our gorgeous venue with local blooms from some of my favourite growers.

Garlands, hoops, jars and urns… some wonderful showstoppers to celebrate flowers and our venue on this super exciting afternoon!

Join us NEXT SUNDAY – 24th June at The Arches Country House to celebrate British flowers and a cracking wedding venue!

Getting to know “Heidi Knights Photography”

As we fast approach our Wedding Open Day, I’m going to be ramping up the old blog and get you all excited about what we have planned next Sunday!

Next up for us to shout about is Heidi of Heidi Knights Photography. Having worked with her over the past year on flower photoshoots and asking her to capture images of the venue, I know first hand how professional, passionate and organised Heidi is – something  I reckon is so important when searching for your photographer.

Heidi will be joining us on the day to capture images of the event, discuss your wedding and display some of her beautiful images…

Go ahead and introduce your business…

I’m Heidi, Heidi Knights Photography. I work across a range of photographic areas – including  weddings & special events, portraits, commercial work, nature & landscape.

What made you set up?

Returning home to Saltburn after 10 years living away in London, I was inspired to try and make a dream a reality. I’ve always loved photography and was never far from a camera from when I was old enough to responsibly keep hold of one! I love capturing little details, emotions and a persons’s unique essence.

How would you best describe your style?

Natural, relaxed & candid.

My photography aims to capture those special and natural emotional moments & details – which can often be over in a second. I like to have an informal meeting/chat to get to know a Bride & Groom first – to understand what makes them tick, and what is most important for them on the day. This can inform an additional focus for my photography & help me to capture the most special images unique to that couple.

What advice would you give to couples when sourcing their photographer?

Booking someone for their skills & experience is important, but so is personality & a connection! I think it’s important that you ‘click’ with them, and they instill confidence that they are flexible, willing to listen to & carry out your ideas, as well as utilizing their own style. This can help ensuring you book the right person for supporting your perfect day!

We are so excited to have you at our upcoming Wedding Open Day on Sunday 24th June. Can you give us a hint at what you have planned?

Lots of beautiful framed and loose photographic prints to highlight my style. My stand will be designed to show my natural style and display work to inspire your own wedding.
