The count down is officially ON! As we hit June, things are getting busier than ever, with weddings every weekend and our fabulous Wedding Open Day approaching fast.
Joining us on Sunday 24th June is another amazing supplier and all round wonderful lady, Heidi Bielby. I’m particularly excited about her involvement as she is working on new favours, designs and, perhaps the best bit, she’s bringing cake for us all to sample!
Hi, please introduce yourself...
Hi everyone! I’m Heidi Bielby, a Cake Designer based in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Mummy to Elise & Harry and Step my to Luke & Shannon.
What made you set up your beautiful cake business?
Ever since I can remember I have always had a flare for anything creative, with Art always being my favourite subject right through school. Coupled with my love of baking at home and the ambition to multitask a young family as well as work, this seemed the perfect combination for me.
Can you tell us a little about your business?
I started making and decorating bespoke cupcakes back in 2011 when my daughter was 1.. completely self taught, which went really well I baked on an evening so I could be a stay at home mummy during the day.
I was then asked to make a cake for a wedding (which felt so out my comfort zone at the time!) and things spiralled so quickly from there.. By 2013 the cupcake craze was dwindling meaning more and more people were choosing cakes over cupcakes.
So I worked out my own methods of how to perfect the cake side to the standard of my cupcakes.
I married my husband Mark In 2014 and opened a cake shop In Thirsk shortly after.
In 2016 when I had our final addition Harry, my priorities changed and i decided to work from home again.
What do you love most about working with your couples and creating cakes?
I love designing and creating bespoke cake designs for people whether it’s a Baby Shower, Birthday, Engagement, Wedding or just for a treat. Every one is different.
I’m passionate about every single cake I create, and thrive on attention to detail.
I design each one from scratch with a vast choice of flavours, fillings colours and techniques for you to choose from. I especially enjoy hand painting unique designs onto cakes too.
How would you best describe your style?
A lover of quirky and unique design, with a passion for the traditional and modern alike.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the beautiful venue here for the Wedding Open Day and I will be bringing plenty of pictures of previous cakes as well as some examples of my work for you to see in real life. Along with some popular flavour samples and a full list of flavour choices to browse over.
